Tourism Training

The ‘Welcomes Visitor’ package includes a business development initiative where the project will deliver local training and skills attainment to support visitor serving business and community enterprises to fully engage with and realise the economic benefits of the refreshed visitor economy.

The Project aims to develop a ‘Berwick Visitor Ambassador’ training module covering customer care issues, promoting hospitality and increasing awareness of local attractions and developing visitor itineraries. To progress this the Trust has purchased ‘berwickambassadors.co.uk’ and ‘berwickambassadors.com’. The Project will develop a ‘Berwick Ambassadors’ Website to host the online local module, those successfully completing the training will be awarded a ‘Berwick’s Ambassador’ certificate.
To support new entrants to the tourism sector the Project proposes to test the value of a pilot training package aimed at young people and adults who are interested in accessing employment in the tourism sector.

NBSL developed a 5 month business skills programme for individuals and businesses in Berwick to support the needs identified in that survey.

The Skills Programme is now complete and a report and evaluation is provided below. The Project continues to work with NBSL and other business support agencies and will share and distribute business support information.
