The ‘Welcomes Visitor’ package includes a business development initiative where the project will deliver local training and skills attainment to support visitor serving business and community enterprises to fully engage with and realise the economic benefits of the refreshed visitor economy.
The Project aims to develop a ‘Berwick Visitor Ambassador’ training module covering customer care issues, promoting hospitality and increasing awareness of local attractions and developing visitor itineraries. To progress this the Trust has purchased ‘berwickambassadors.co.uk’ and ‘berwickambassadors.com’. The Project will develop a ‘Berwick Ambassadors’ Website to host the online local module, those successfully completing the training will be awarded a ‘Berwick’s Ambassador’ certificate.
To support new entrants to the tourism sector the Project proposes to test the value of a pilot training package aimed at young people and adults who are interested in accessing employment in the tourism sector.
TOURISM NEW ENTRANT TRAINING
The Project is therefore looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced training provider to deliver and accredit a basic customer services training package (Level 1 Qualification) including;
Training and assessment will be supplemented by relevant work experience/placement which is appropriate for the individual trainee/participant. Work experience/placements are to be arranged and managed by the appointed provider.
The pilot package will be evaluated by the participants and the placement providers to inform the further development of the training package and/or its continued delivery.
The pilot training package will be test run and evaluated with Groups of four trainees at a time.
It is anticipated that four Groups of school age children and two Groups of adults will participate in the test programme and submitted costings should reflect this level of provision.
This training provision is intended to support a wider package of Project activities including the development of an enhanced local events programme which will operate over the 2019 visitor season. In order to feed into these opportunities it is intended that the pilot training package is in progress by the end of March 2019.
Training providers bidding for this work should provide details of their experience and appropriate qualifications to deliver the training related to the Groups of trainees proposed, offer a methodology for the delivery of the training and provide awarding body details.
Details of training costs should be clearly itemised for the entire programme and should include course development work, all course materials and content and certification, accommodation provision (this should be central to Berwick) and refreshments and placement management costs.
Respondents to the brief should also identify any post qualification support which will be made available to trainees/participants, detailing the type of support available and the timescale over which the support will be offered.
Training providers submitting bids for this work should provide all the information required along with a delivery timescale, a breakdown of itemised costs and details of the work experience/placements secured.
